How to Succeed in Life
When you wake up in the morning do you have a list of things to do for the day or do you sort of just wing it? Do you have goals and dreams that you would like to achieve today?
Truth is. most of us do.
The problem with most people is that they set out to achieve these amazing goals, just to write them on paper and get to them whenever they feel like it. In goal setting one must have structure to achieve success. That is why I created the Ultimate Success Schedule.
The point of using the Ultimate Success Schedule is so that you can track every part of your day. You’ll start to realize that you have more time than you think.
Here is an important point:
The Day Begins at 12:00 AM
Most of us make the mistake of believing the day begins when we awake. When the clock strikes 12:00 am a new day begins. At this time most of us are sleeping. So if I plan to sleep from 12:00 am to 6:00 am. I would write “Sleep” on each of those lines beginning at 12:00 am and ending at 6:00 am. Everyone’s schedule will vary based on what they have to do for the day. Remember, there are 24 hours in a day. Make each one count.
Use Your Time Wisely
The number one excuse people use for not completing a task or a goal is that they don’t have enough time. How many times have you heard someone say that? How many times have you said to yourself, “I want to do this today. I just don’t have time for it?” Stop saying that. When you say, “I don’t have time,” you are speaking negativity into existence thus creating another excuse as to why you won’t complete your goals. Let’s get the ball rolling. Start writing your success schedule today and see just how many goals you will achieve on your Road to Success.
Never Leave White Space
Why, you ask? Grant Cardone said it best, “White space is the devil.” When you have white space on your schedule, you’ll begin to do things you have no business doing and lose.”
Important Tips:
1. Write your goals/to do list in specifics.
When you write your goals/to do list avoid writing any generic phrases such as, “Clean my bathroom.” This phrase is too generic and doesn’t really help you to know exactly what to do or what you’ll need to achieve the goal. Instead write down all of the smaller tasks it takes to clean your bathroom. For example, the tasks you can write to clean your bathroom could be:
1. Clean the bathtub with a scrub brush using bleach and Pine-sol
2. Clean mirror with Windex glass cleaner.
3. Wipe sink with a blue microfiber cloth and Mister Clean solution.
4. Clean the toilet using a red microfiber cloth, toilet bowl brush, and lysol toilet bowl cleaning solution.
5. Sweep and mop bathroom floor using broom, dust pan and Swiffer Wet Jet.
All of these smaller tasks help you to complete the main goal which is cleaning the bathroom.
I may have taken it a little far here but, the more specific you are the better. There’s less chance of you “forgetting” something and putting it off until tomorrow. Notice: I didn’t just write the task down. I also wrote down what I needed to complete the task.
2. Add your goals to your phone as an event or an alarm.
You spend all day on your phone talking, texting and browsing social media. Why not set a reminder or an alarm for each goal that you have? It’s very easy to write your goals down on a list and misplace it. Use this extra backup plan to assure yourself that you are completing your goals. When you add goals to your phone as an event, alarm or reminder you lessen the chances of “forgetting” to complete your goal. Try it!
3. Set a 15 minute timer for each goal or task.
You may have noticed that this schedule is written in increments of 15 minutes. Some tasks take longer or shorter than others. When you break down your goals into smaller tasks you are more than likely to achieve them. Fifteen minutes actually goes by pretty quickly. When you see a timer and you are completing a goal your mind is racing to beat the clock. Beat that buzzer and achieve your goals!
4. Repeat, repeat, repeat!
Repetition = success. Don’t write down your success schedule once and forget about it. Write a new one every single day. It does not matter if you have to do the same things you did yesterday. Studies show that writing helps to increase memory. The more you write the more you’ll remember.
There you have it. Now you know why you should write your Success Schedule every day. I promise you will feel great at the end of the day just knowing that you’ve completed every goal that you’ve planned. Get started on achieving your goals today on your road to success.
Until next time,
